What we were engaged to achieve

To create a collaborative approach to working in a Design & Construct contract environment with the Northern Expressway Project, cause a sustained impact on team culture and through that on the performance of the team, leading to genuine high performance at individual, sub-team and whole of team levels.

What we did

We conducted a number of workshops including:

A Collaborative Negotiations workshop, designed to create a negotiation process that will foster the pursuit of high performance and seamless teamwork and provide an experience of building a collaborative relationship through negotiations;

A Collaborative Leadership Summit designed to establish clear expectations and generate genuine aligned commitment between the JLT & JMT setting them up powerfully to lead the ongoing collaboration and specifically to “Be” collaboration

Value Engineering and Innovation  Workshops designed to deliver opportunities for early gamebreaking performance in specific functional areas and in the KRA of ‘time’ and ‘budget’. And to create gamebreaking relationships with critical groups and individuals within the team and their suppliers and customers

Intentional Relationship Meetings designed to build on the relationships across the and to explicitly identify the expectations of , and commitments to, each pair of sub teams

JMT  & JLT Retreats designed to inspire innovation and outside the box thinking, to challenge deeply held assumptions and beliefs, build alignment and Identify opportunities to further high performance

WPT Retreats designed to Accelerate Team Integration, create shared understanding, generate active mutual support and trust amongst and explore barriers to challenging boundaries

Lessons Learned Workshops designed to capture the lessons learned from the contract so far, and to create alignment around a common purpose for the intra-team relationships for the duration of the project

Early Completions Workshop designed to create a strategy to  engage everyone in the quest for early completion, identify opportunities to expedite an early finish, identify the road blocks to early completion and strategies to mitigate them and reinvigorate the team

Regular High Performance Surveys to generate a early warnings and assessment of the cultural and systems health of the project (i.e. both subjective and objectives assessments)

The impact we had

The project co-located at site and worked collaboratively at all levels to achieve outstanding performance, overcome the  challenge of working collaboratively  with an underpinning  adversarial contract and at this stage is confident of completing on budget and six months early
